Easy, Adorable Yarn and Cardboard Santa Ornaments
These adorable yarn and cardboard Santa ornaments are fun and easy for all ages to make. The process is quick, easy, and relatively mess-free, using materials you already have around the house.

Remember the yarn and cardboard gnome ornaments the kids made last Christmas?
Well, we tweaked that craft a little, and made these totally adorable Santa ornaments the other day.

Hands down, these are the cutest ornaments hanging on the tree this year. Just look at these little faces with their pudgy noses and rosy cheeks.

Fun and easy for all ages
The process for making these Santas is easy, and if your child can use a low-heat glue gun, they can probably make them with little to no-assistance.
Younger kids will need some help with the cutting and gluing, but that’s all part of making magical Christmas memories together.
Put on some holiday tunes, pour some hot chocolate, and enjoy this special Christmas crafting time together.
Supplies:
- thin cardboard (i.e. cereal box weight)
- low heat glue gun
- scissors
- fabric
- white yarn
- white pompom
- cotton ball
- googly eyes
- small styrofoam ball, cut in half (for nose)
- paint (for nose)
- craft jewels (for cheeks)
- thread for hanging
Substitutions:
If you don’t have a styrofoam ball for the nose, a pom pom or button will work.
If you don’t have craft jewels for the cheeks, you can use buttons or pompoms or craft foam.
Instructions:
Paint the styrofoam nose and set it aside to dry.
Cut a triangle out of the cardboard and a larger triangle out of the fabric.
Lay the cardboard triangle on the wrong side of the fabric triangle.
Glue the excess fabric to the back of the cardboard.
Glue the pompom to the top of the hat.
Stretch the cotton ball out and fluff it, and glue it along the bottom of the hat.
Wind the yarn around your hand until you have enough for Santa’s beard. Slide it off and cut it to the length you want it.
Squeeze a line of hot glue along the bottom-back of the hat and carefully press the yarn into it.
Flip your ornament over, and if you need to, trim Santa’s beard to even it up.
Arrange Santa’s eyes, nose and cheeks on the surface of his beard, and glue them in place.
Glue a loop of string top of your ornament for hanging.
