Footprint Rudolph Christmas Cards – Happy Hooligans

Kids just LOVE making handprint and footprint art, and parents and grandparents love receiving it. It’s so sweet to have those cute little hands and feet preserved in a piece of art that a child has made.

My daycare kids also love making homemade Christmas cards o go along with the homemade gifts they’ve made for their parents for Christmas.
The other day, after watching the classic Christmas movie “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”, we made these adorable reindeer footprint Christmas cards. The kids loved the process, and they turned out so cute!

Supplies:
- card stock or construction paper
- brown paint
- red pom-pom (or red paint)
- brown marker
- googly eyes
- glue
- styrofoam tray (or something to hold the pour the brown paint into)
Instructions:
To start, we squirted some brown paint on to a styrofoam produce tray. We use styrofoam trays often when we’re crafting. They’re so versatile. I always sterilize first by running them through the dishwasher.
I spread the paint around the tray with a paintbrush, and then my little crafter pressed her foot into it.
Ooooo, lovely! What an ooey-gooey sensation!
Then she pressed her foot on to a folded piece of white card stock to make her footprint Rudolph.
The footprint dried quickly while we washed all the paint off her foot.
Next, she used a paintbrush to put a bit of glue on the googly eyes and pom-pom nose.
If you don’t have pom-poms:
Don’t worry if you can’t find a red pom-pom. Your child can dip her thumb into some red paint, and press that on for the nose. Then you’ll have a thumbprint-footprint card!
She finished by adding some antlers with a brown Sharpie.
Oh my goodness. Rudolph never looked so cute!
