Christmas Tree Sheet Music Ornaments for Kids to Make

These Christmas Tree Sheet Music Ornaments are easy to make with sheet music and possible sticks. They make a great homemade gift for kids to give to a music teacher or a cute gift-topper for any music lover.

I’m so excited to show you our latest popsicle stick Christmas tree ornament!

I played the piano for years in my youth, so I have a soft spot for sheet music. I find sheet music charming and romantic.

At Christmas time sheet music can have a festive feel too, so we love creating Christmas crafts with old sheet music. Today, we’re making an adorable Christmas tree craft with our sheet music.

I think they turned out beautifully! They’re so sweet and simple and so easy to make!

Wouldn’t they make a great gift for a friend who plays an instrument or for a piano teacher?

To make our sheet music Christmas tree ornaments, you’ll need:

  • sheet music
  • craft sticks
  • glue
  • decorative ribbon
  • thread/cord (for hanging)

How to make Christmas tree sheet music ornament:

Begin by cutting your sheet music into strips.  Older kids will be able to kind of eye-ball this step, but for younger kids you might want to mark lines on the back of the sheet music for them to follow with their scissors.

For each tree, cut several strips.  For now, don’t worry about the length of your strips.  You’ll play around with that in a minute. Depending on how wide or narrow you make your strips, you may need more or fewer than I did.

To get an idea for how your tree will look, lay your strips across a craft stick, leaving a bit of space in between each one.

When you get your tree looking the way you want it, trim the length of the strips.

Start by cutting the strip that will be at the bottom of your Christmas tree.  Then the strip above that one will be slightly shorter.  Continue cutting shorter and shorter strips until you get to the top of your tree.

Glue them all in place, and make a small bow with a piece of ribbon.  Glue that to the top of your ornament.

Finish by gluing a loop of string or cording to the back of the craft stick.
