How to Make One-Ingredient Frozen Banana Ice Cream

Turn a banana into ice cream with this easy 1-ingredient Banana Ice Cream recipe. All you need is a frozen banana to make this healthy, delicious treat!
We LOVE ice cream! Remember our 3-ingredient Snow Ice Cream? And how about our coffee can ice cream? Well this frozen banana ice cream recipe is even easier! You can whip up a super-nutritious snack in 5 minutes using just a frozen banana.
It sounds crazy, but it’s true!
5 minutes and one ingredient are all it takes to make a thick and creamy banana ice cream that tastes just like soft-serve, but unlike soft-serve, this ice cream is 100% nutritious because the only ingredient is a banana!

I’m not sure what the science is behind it, and why a frozen banana doesn’t just turn to mush when you blend it, but I’m not going to get caught up in that.
All I know is I can feel totally great about feeding this healthy snack to kids of any age at any time of day!
Let me show you how easy it is to make!
How to make one-ingredient frozen banana ice cream:
You’re going to start with one ripe, firm banana.

Peel it, and chop it into disks, and set those disks on a plate in the freezer.
When your banana pieces are completely frozen, remove them from the freezer, and blend them.
2 ways to blend your frozen banana pieces:
You make your banana ice cream in a blender or you can use an electric mixer.
I actually use both to make my banana ice cream.
I start mine in my Ninja Master Prep (affiliate link). For the record, I ADORE my Ninja. It such an awesome blender.

A couple of pulses chops the frozen banana into bits, and then I transfer my banana to a bowl, and finish with my electric hand mixer. In a matter of seconds, your banana will start to resemble cookie dough.

Keep blending, and in another minute or so, it will take on a luscious, creamy consistency that looks just like soft-serve ice cream!

Scoop it into a bowl, and enjoy!

Wasn’t that easy? Five minutes to the soft, creamy and delicious homemade banana ice cream.

Enjoy!
