In recent weeks, philanthropist MacKenzie Scott has poured another round of funds into underresourced higher ed institutions.

Last week, the College of the Muscogee Nation, a tribal institution in Oklahoma, received $8 million from Scott, after she made other gifts to institutions and organizations that support Native American students.

Two other Oklahoma institutions, Northern Oklahoma College and Northeastern State University, announced $17 million gifts earlier that week. For Northern Oklahoma College, the contribution marked the largest in its history. Fort Peck Community College in Montana also received its largest gift ever at $11 million.

Dillard University joined a growing number of historically Black colleges and universities benefiting from Scott’s philanthropic largess. The $19 million gift was the largest in the HBCU’s history, according to a news release last Wednesday. Xavier University of Louisiana also received a whopping $38 million last month.
