Taco Hotdogs – How to create a Hotdog-Taco Bar For Parties and BBQs

Everyone loves tacos AND everyone loves hotdogs, so why not combine the two and set up a TACO HOTDOG BAR for your next family get-together or BBQ? A juicy dog heaped with all your favourite taco toppings… Mmmm! Taco hotdogs! Now that’s the way to eat a hotdog!
Summertime is the best time for creating memories to last a life-time with family. In honour of Canada’s 150th birthday this year, I’m challenging you to create one-of-a-kind moments with your family this summer.
July 1st is always filled with festivities from sun-up to sun-down as we come together to celebrate our country’s birthday.
We’ve come up with some ideas to make the day super-special when it comes to fun and food in our own backyard this Canada Day, and we want you to do the same!

Now, we won’t be spending the whole day in our backyard. Heck no! We’ll take in the parade and the downtown activities, and of course, there will be fireworks on the pier at dark.
In between the festivities though, we’ll be here at home, and I want to make the most of those moments with my family and friends.
First the fun:
Our celebrations will begin by making Canada Day crafts in the backyard.
We’ll be making shakers and banners to wave at the parade. No need to get fancy here – we’ll use supplies and materials we have around the house and garden. And remember, it’s not about the end result anyway. It’s about getting creative together, and spending time with one another.
That’s what everyone will remember most years from now.

Taco Hotdog Bar:
For our backyard BBQ, I’ve come up with a really fun idea.
We’re setting up a taco hotdog bar! The kids are going to go nuts for this because they love hotdogs and tacos, so putting the two together will be a huge hit with my gang.

Next up: dogs and all of your favourite taco toppings.
For us that’s:

- mashed avocado with a dash of salt and pepper (or full-on guacamole)
- shredded lettuce
- green onions
- all topped with a generous sprinkling of shredded cheese
Get as adventurous as you’d like – think jalapeño peppers, black olives, salsa…
Mmm-Mmmm…
Taco hotdogs.

I have a feeling the taco hotdog bar might be the start of a new Canada Day tradition for our family.
